  • Password Protect Your Blackberry

    Password protecting you Blackberry keeps your personal information secure should you lose or have your handset stolen. Entering your Pin incorrectly 10 times will automatically wipe your handset.

    NOTE: this does not protect your SD card which can store media such as pictures and videos.

    1Press the 'Blackberry Button' [Blackberry Logo] to go to your main menu
    2Scroll down to 'Options' (spanner icon)
    3Select 'Password'
    4Now change the top password to 'Enable'
    5Scroll to 'Set Password' and select.
    6Now type a new password and then verify by entering again
    * You can alter the time it takes before your handset automatically locks and requests your password by changing the security timeout option (default is 2 minutes)
    7Press the blackberry button and select 'Save'
  • Wipe Your Blackberry Handset

    Should you need to wipe all information from your handset whether you no longer want the handset or need to send it back for repair you can perform the following:

    1Press the 'Blackberry Button' [Blackberry Logo] to go to your main menu
    2Scroll down to 'Options' (spanner icon)
    3Select 'Security Options'
    4Select 'General Settings'
    5Press the 'Blackberry Button' [Blackberry Logo]
    6Select 'Wipe Handheld'
    7You will then be prompted to type the word 'blackberry' to confirm
  • Backing Up Your Blackberry Device

    This will make a copy of the entire contents of your blackberry including contacts, messages and media stored on the device. Make sure you have the Latest Blackberry Desktop Software on your computer (see loading blackberry desktop software (link))

    1Open up the Blackberry Desktop Manager
    2Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable provided
    3You may be asked if you would like to turn on Mass Storage Media Mode > Select NO
    4If your device has a password lock you will be asked to enter this > Please Note should your password for example be 1234, it may actually be the letters wers when typing into your computer.
    5When connected your device should show your device PIN in the bottom left hand corner.
    6The desktop manager will then check your device for the latest handset software > you can select to update now (may take upto half an hour)> or press cancel to do this another time.
    7Now select Back up and Restore > Back-Up
    8Select a folder where you would like the file to be stored > the file will be automatically named as todays date (change this if you wish) > SAVE
    9The back-up file was successfully created
  • Blackberry Device Switch

    Make sure you have the Latest Blackberry Desktop Software on your computer (see loading blackberry desktop software (link))

    Connecting Device

    1Open up the Blackberry Desktop Manager
    2Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable provided
    3You may be asked if you would like to turn on Mass Storage Media Mode > Select NO

    Your Handset is now connected to the Desktop Manager

    1Select > Device Switch Wizard
    2Then under switch blackberry devices select > Start
    3Your current device will be shown connected > Select Next
    4Your current device will then be backed up
    5When prompted please connect your new device > select OK
    6Data will now be transferred to the new device.
  • Blackberry Desktop Software (PC)

    The blackberry desktop software can be used to back-up all the contents from your handset, synchronize with your outlook email and also swap information from an old handset to a new one.

    Start by downloading the latest desktop software from the following link that applies to your computer:

    Go to the following link: to get the latest desktop software for PC

    1Select whether you would like to receive information about RIM / Blackberry Products
    2Click Download > Select SAVE
    3Choose a folder where you would like to save the desktop software > SAVE
    4The software may take 10 minutes or so to download >
    5Once Downloaded > Select RUN
    6Choose the language you would like to run the software in
    7You will then be taken through the Installation Wizard > NEXT
    8Select which region you are in > Default United Kingdom > NEXT
    9Accept the terms and conditions > NEXT
    10Select the destination folder > NEXT
    11Select the type of set-up > Typical (Recommended) > NEXT
    12To manage media select Media sync and Media Manager (Optional) > NEXT
    IMPORTANT - If you are unsure please contact us before proceeding
    13Unless you are running on a company BES server - please select Intergrate with a personal email account (even if you are using a works email on your blackberry device) > NEXT
    14It is recommended that you uncheck the first option > Start Blackberry Desktop Software Manager automatically each time the computer starts.
    15INSTALL
    16The desktop software will be installed to your computer > FINISH
    17You will now be asked to Restart your computer > Yes Now (Recommended)
  • Blackberry Desktop Software (MAC)

    The blackberry desktop software can be used to back-up all the contents from your handset, synchronize with your outlook email and also swap information from an old handset to a new one.

    Start by downloading the latest desktop software from the following link that applies to your computer:

    1Select whether you would like to receive information about RIM / Blackberry Products
    2Click Download > Desktop software will now download
    3Once download has finished double click Install > Blackberry Desktop Manager Installer will now open > Continue
    4Please read terms and conditions and if you agree > Select Continue
    5Select your region from the drop down menu > example: United Kingdom > again read the licence agreement and if you agree > Select Continue > Agree > Continue > INSTALL
    6You may then be asked to enter you computers password to confirm installation
    7You must restart your computer to finish installation > RESTART
